If you want to experience French style culinary delights make a reservation here. Expect a 2-3 hours service time to complete your meal. I highly recommend the table side Caesar salad the dressing is perfection. This time I also had the Beef Wellington closet to rare then mid rare. The sauce was amazing and it was cooked to perfection. The cherries jubilee was amazing excellent closing sweet delicacy.
Michel's at the Colony Surf is the definition of fine dining! To be honest I was a little intimidated by the online menu, but my husband and I were invited to dinner by a friend, and I am so glad we went. We were lucky enough to be seated at a table by the window with an absolutely breathtaking view. We ordered the Caesar salad to share, which was made from scratch at the table. It was quite a presentation, and is known as a favorite on the menu! For our main course we enjoyed the Beef Wellington, which was excellent! The service was next level! If you are looking for fine dining with a view, Michel's would be the perfect spot!
A true classic... First off, you cannot beat the location. Come early and go to the beach out front. What a wonderful view down into Waikiki. Once inside the dining experience takes you back. First class from your entrance to your exit. Menu items include all the great preparations of Caesar salad made from scratch at your table. Châteaubriand again carved at your table. Cherries, jubilee, bananas, Foster all done asa they were created to be served. Wait staff is top notch and very knowledgeable. The maître d' is also from another decade. Very accommodating and very happy to share the years of experience he has had at this iconic restaurant.
We recently tried Michel's and were blown away. It felt a bit like we had stepped back in time when entered the restaurant but the service was the incredible. All of the waitstaff were kind and very helpful. The tableside presentation of the lobster bisque and Caesar salad was a very unique and cool touch. All of the food was delicious - I had the duck and it was possibly the best duck I've ever had. The cocktails were delicious and it was an overall incredible meal. I would highly recommend Michel's!
We drove to Michel's and were greeted by the valet attendant who was outstanding. Very friendly. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly host -- she walked us to our table and pulled out both of our chairs and I just KNEW we would enjoy this experience. Our server Brandy introduced herself and recommended cocktails we should try. As we waited for our drinks, we enjoyed the views of the beach and the restaurant itself. The ambiance was so delightful we both couldn't stop smiling. Our drinks arrived and we toasted to taking our time and enjoying our evening. We ordered a cold seafood platter and two orders of oysters. DELICIOUS. The server's assistant (very shy girl, I think her name was Nehua? Something Hawaiian :,) sorry girl) was also very sweet and super attentive. We ordered our main dishes and some of them came with table side service. The Caesar salad, the lobster bisque and the banana flambé were all table side and I loved it because we got to enjoy our apps & drinks while watching a little show lol. Anyways-- Brandy and everyone else there is fantastic. Even when I was walking to the restroom, another attendant asked if I needed help locating it. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, great views and great service!
Priding themselves in classic French cuisine and service Michels at the colony surf is a beautiful place to dine in. Not sure if the "classic" style has become somewhat dated and muted in some of the flavors in various dishes. We loved the escargot, Caesar salad, and lobster bisque. The beef Wellington and lamb chops were very underwhelming. Not awful by any means but not enough flavor for me to come back. The puff pastry on the Wellington was soft and not crispy, the lamb was slightly gamey. The service overall was good and attentive. However, it did seem somewhat chaotic behind the scenes. There's a lot of table side courses so lots of moving pieces. It seemed like there was a lot of shared task so it came across somewhat disorganized. All the workers I did talk to were very friendly and did make the experience enjoyable, just wish they were more organized behind the scenes.
We had dinner reservations and were immediately brought to our table upon arrival. The view from our table was absolutely stunning! Our waiter brought lavash, garlic butter and water for everyone and gave us a few moments to review the beverage menu. After our beverages were brought to the table, we ordered the French Onion Soup and Double Ribeye for two. The soup was absolutely delicious! We loved the puff pastry that was baked on top of the soup dish. The ribeye steak was really flavorful and big enough to fill everyone! Of course we had to save room for dessert so we bagged our leftovers and ordered the Cherry Jubilee.. OMG! This has to be my favorite dessert here.. the sauce is to die for! Needless to say, the dessert was devoured and everyone left full and happy. I highly recommend this restaurant! We've had excellent service every time we've eaten here, and the food is consistently delicious.
Amazing, unobstructed view of the water/sunset. Fancy, but not stuffy French-ish menu. Good service. It's definitely old school here. This was my first time at Michel's. I always thought it'd be way too expensive and snooty for my taste. But it was a family member's birthday, so we went out for sunset dinner. The meal is an ordeal. Each course is really a course and the entire dining experience took about 3 hours. Just keep that in mind if that's of any concern to you - or perhaps a perk! I enjoyed my experience, but this is 100% a spot for a very special occasion (at least for me). Things found on our table: catch of the day, NY steak, cioppino, caesar salads, the famous lobster bisque (it's a thing), French onion soup
